Preventing the misuse of social media platforms to promote & sell drugs
The GCC Criminal Information Center to Combat Drugs, in cooperation with the General Force of Dubai Police, represented by Hemaya International Center at the General Department of Drug Control, organized a workshop titled "Preventing the Exploitation of Social Media in the Sale and Promotion of Drugs" at the Dubai Police Officers Club. The workshop was attended by Major General Eid Mohammed Thani Harib, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Criminal Investigation Affairs; Dr. Mohamed Al Kuwaiti, Chairman of the Cybersecurity Council for the Government of the UAE; Brigadier Khalid bin Mowaiza, Director of the General Department of Drug Control; Brigadier Dr. Abdul Rahman Sharaf Al Mamari, Director of the International Protection Center; Colonel Mohamed Abdullah Al Khater, Director of the GCC-CIC, as well as representatives from the United Nations, the Arab Office for Drug Control affiliated with the Arab Interior Ministers Council, the Australian Federal Police Office, the Drug Control Police in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, and a number of officers.
This workshop comes in implementation of the decisions of the Interior Ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries at their forty-first meeting in Doha in November of last year to discuss the best ways to prevent the misuse of social media platforms in the sale and promotion of drugs.
